An easy question to ask yet hard to answer without asking you some questions. It’s one thing to build a website or web application. It’s another thing to develop a mobile app that needs to be written for two platforms and integrate securely with your corporate databases. During discovery, we typically ask the following questions:
- Do you need your mobile app to work on both iPhones and Androids?
- Do people need to login to use your app?
- Will you require people to create profiles?
- Is your app free, have a one-time cost, or in-app purchases?
- Will people rate, review, count, or inspect things with it?
- Does your app need to connect with an admin website or database server?
- Do you need a logo for your app icon?
- How important is the design? Must it be “award-winning” or simply use templates to get the job done?
A Clutch survey found the average minimum app development project cost to be between $5,000 to $10,000 but is quick to note that this only covers the architecture phase. The actual costs are much higher with a median total app development cost of $171,450. This was in 2015.
GoodFirms places a basic app between $40,000 to $60,000, a medium complexity app between $61,000 to $69,000, and a feature-rich app between $70,000 to $100,000.
